Course Overview
This course provides an in-depth look at the Elevation Certificate (EC) along with relevant resources to answer your questions. This is a four-lesson series for surveyors on how to accurately and thoroughly complete the EC, which helps agents determine the proper flood insurance premium rate. Properly completed ECs also aid local floodplain administrators in determining how high to elevate buildings located in the Special Flood Hazard Area to reduce flood risk.
Course Objectives:
- Complete a basic FEMA Elevation Certificate
- Describe the documents used to support the Elevation Certificate
- Identify the Elevation Certificate’s key components
- Recognize the resources used in conjunction with the Elevation Certificate
Primary Audience
The primary audience for this course is Land Surveyors and other licensed professionals who may be retained to produce an FEMA NFIP elevation certificate. The secondary audience for this course is floodplain management professionals.
