It has come to our attention that others have been filing false DMCA notifications. The answers we provide may be protected by US copyrights, however, they fall under ‘Fair Use’ Copyright laws.
The ‘Fair Use’ Copyright clause in United States copyright law, is a doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders. Examples of fair use include commentary, search engines, criticism, parody, news reporting, research, teaching, library archiving and scholarship. It provides for the legal, unlicensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work.
In addition to the ‘Fair Use’ clause within U.S Copyright law. These courses were created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a UNITED STATES OF AMERICA GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY.
The U.S Copyright Law of 1909 which was later codified as United States Code Section 105 of Title 17 states ‘ No copyright shall subsist * * * in any publication of the United States Government, or any reprint, in whole or in part, thereof: * * *.’
This simply means no one except the U.S Government has to ability to have rights to a copyright created by a US Governmental Agency, Agency Employee, or an Independent Contractor hired by a U.S Governmental Agency.
